Asphalt Valve
What is an Asphalt Valve?
An asphalt valve is the equipment used to control the transfer of hot bitumen or asphalt from one point to another in the asphalt production process. It is manufactured from special steel or cast material that can withstand high temperatures (160–200°C).
It is used to both stop the flow and regulate the flow rate. This allows complete control of the amount of asphalt entering the mixer. This feature ensures that the asphalt mix is prepared in full compliance with its recipe.
The efficient operation of equipment used in asphalt production facilities depends on the correct management of flow control in the system. This is one of the most critical control points. The asphalt valve, used to correctly direct asphalt to the mixer, bitumen line, or storage units, is a crucial component that directly affects the plant’s safety and production quality.
It is preferred in modern asphalt plants for its high temperature resistance, leak-proofing, rapid on-off mechanism, and long-lasting structure. In short, the proper operation of a plant is essential.
How Does an Asphalt Valve Work?
The operating mechanism of an asphalt valve consists of several basic stages:
1. Manual or Automatic Control
Depending on the production line, it can be controlled manually, pneumatically, or hydraulically via an automation system.
2. Leak-Proof Body Structure
Due to high temperatures, the valve must be leak-proof. Therefore, special gaskets and a heat-resistant body structure are used.
3. Flow Adjustment
The flow rate is controlled according to the opening degree. The desired amount of bitumen is precisely delivered according to the recipe.
4. Safe Closing
In emergencies or malfunctions, the valve closes quickly and the asphalt flow is safely stopped. Thanks to these features, it simultaneously ensures safety and quality in production.
Contributions of Asphalt Valves to Production
Directly increases the overall performance of the asphalt plant. The main advantages of this valve are:
-
Provides the correct mixing ratio with precise flow control.
-
Provides long life with its temperature and pressure resistant structure.
-
Reduces maintenance costs thanks to its leak-proof housing.
-
Increases production safety.
-
Ensures faster production flow with its compatibility with automation systems.
It is an indispensable piece of equipment for the asphalt plant.
